  • Lik-Sang, one of the largest game hardware/software importers, shuts down after the latest round of lawsuits by Sony corp. Lik-sang, based in China, was well known for buying hardware and exporting it to areas where it wasn’t yet released. It seems many gamers will have one less option for getting their Nintendo Wii’s and PS3’s this Fall.
  • Firefox 2.0 is out, but is it worth the download? We think so. Spell checking and improved tab browsing are winners, though overall it’s not an amazing leap forward.
  • Tropos wireless mesh networks are being deployed in cities across the nation. Joe was in Miami last week at Tropos training and came back with good info. These powerful wifi routers could be bringing reliable, self-optimizing, wi-fi to your town soon.
  • AMD/ATI merger could mean big things. Does this signal the end of graphics cards? AMD goes toe-to-toe with Intel for corporate dollars.

  2. I think it is great that ATI and AMD are merging. Both are excellent in their areas of expertise and when combined, they will unleash products that far surpass anything we have today. Besides, processing power is no longer just required for simple word processing. Many of the newest products currently being released or soon to be released rely much more heavily on graphics processing as well as heavy duty data processing. Windows Vista is a good example of where both graphical and data processing are needed at optimum levels for that OS to work properly if it works at all :)
